Do you want to support your club leading Paddleboarders? If so, the Stand Up Paddleboard Sheltered Water Leader Award could be for you!

The training consists of the following areas:

  • Sourcing and understanding weather and conditions
  • Appropriate clothing and equipment
  • Leadership Philosophy 
  • Safety Briefs / Profiling / Leader equipment
  • Personal performance
  • Rescues and incident management 
  • Planning Journeys
  • Leadership styles
  • Use of games in Journeying

Training Prerequisites 

For this training course there are no formal Prerequisites, however you are expected to have a good level of personal skill for Sheltered water. You may wish to look at Personal Performance award or Safety and rescue course to bolster your personal skills or Rescue skills. If you have any questions about this, Please get in touch.

Stand Up Paddleboard Leader Assessment

For the Paddlesport Leader Assessment we aim to take away the stresses of the assessment feel. 

On the assessment you are expected to be able to:

  • Rescue a variety of Paddleboards from inflatable, hard boards and race/touring boards.
  • Plan and Deliver a journey at the upper limit of your remit in lakes and slowing moving rivers.
  • Plan a Safe and Fun journey, with sound decision making putting students at the center of the experience
  • Paddle your chosen craft confidently and competently in the upper limit of the remit

 

Prior to the Assessment you will have the opportunity to contact your students, to allow a better picture of experiences, competency and equipment. This will allow to better your ability to organise logistics with assistance from AR-Coaching if required. You will plan on 4 students in a variety craft and levels of experience.

  • Valid first qualification - Recognised by Paddle UK
  • Valid Safeguarding Training - Recognised by Paddle UK
  • Home Nation registration for Assessment
  • Home Nation Membership
